Co-payment information for statutory insured patients

🇩🇪 Deutsche Version

For therapy prescriptions billed via statutory health insurance, insured patients are required to make a co-payment per prescription. The co-payment consists of €10 plus 10 % of the prescription value and is regulated in Social Code Book V (§ 32 para. 2 in conjunction with § 61 sentence 3 SGB V).

The co-payment must be paid to the therapy provider at the first treatment appointment.

Children and adolescents up to the age of 18 are exempt from co-payments (even if they have their own income).

Application for co-payment exemption

Statutory insured patients are only required to pay co-payments up to their individual burden limit, which is 2 % of annual gross income.

The burden limit is calculated based on the annual gross income of all household members.

Please keep all receipts and apply for an exemption certificate once the burden limit has been reached.

For chronic illnesses, the burden limit is reduced to 1 %.
